A technical website check looks at what is visible from the outside, in the same way a visitor or a mail server would. It does not need a login, and it does not look inside your accounts.
The check opens your start page and looks for the basics, such as links to the imprint and the privacy page. It checks that the links exist, not what the pages say.
It looks up the public DNS records that decide whether your email is trusted: SPF, DKIM and DMARC. Missing or faulty records are a common reason for email landing in spam.
It reads the certificate your website presents and checks that it is valid. An expired or mismatched certificate shows visitors a warning.
It does not test your website for weaknesses, and it does not judge texts. A good result is a good sign for these checks, not a guarantee about everything else.
Our free Website check runs these checks for a small business website and explains each result in plain words. Open Website check
