A wallet has two parts that are easy to confuse. The public address is for receiving and looking up; the private key is for controlling.
It is like an account number. Anyone can use it to send you coins or to look up what the wallet holds.
It is the secret that allows spending from the wallet. Whoever has it has full control, and it cannot be taken back once shared. That is why it is never given to anyone.
A recovery phrase is another way to hold the same control. It is written as a list of words and must be kept as secret as the key. It also never belongs in a form.
A tracker only needs the public address. If an app asks for the key or the phrase to show balances, it is asking for more than it needs. This holds for any app.
Pulse Totals works from public addresses and has no use for keys or phrases. Open Pulse Totals
