Repaying debt raises the ratio by shrinking the bottom of the fraction. The amount to repay follows from a short formula.
Debt to repay = current debt − collateral ÷ target ratio. Use the ratio as a number, so 175 percent is 1.75. If the result is zero or negative, no repayment is needed for that target.
Debt 100, collateral 140, ratio 140 percent. For a target of 175 percent, the debt must fall to 140 ÷ 1.75 = 80, so repay 20.
In the same example, adding collateral needs 35 and repaying needs 20. Repaying has more effect per unit, because it shrinks the debt directly.
The numbers are for today's prices. Fees and price moves while the transaction waits are not included, and the system's own rules apply.
