Modern AI tools handle German and English well, so write in the language you think in. What matters more is that you state which language the answer should be in.
A prompt in your own language is usually clearer than one in a second language. Precise wording matters more than the choice of language. The result can be translated afterwards if needed.
Do not leave it to the AI to guess. Add one line such as 'Answer in German' or 'Antworte auf Englisch'.
German has two forms of address. Say which one you want, and for letters and emails, which closing.
If the source text is in one language and the answer should be in another, say so, and say which terms should stay in the original.
