What you paste into an AI tool is sent to the service that runs it. Before you paste, it is worth thinking about what is in the text.
Names, addresses, health details and student or customer records belong to someone. Remove or replace them unless you are sure the service and your rules allow it.
Passwords, access keys and private documents should not go into a prompt. Use placeholders for anything of that kind.
Drafts, contracts and internal plans may be covered by confidentiality. Check your organisation's rules first.
Replace sensitive parts with plain placeholders such as [NAME] or [AMOUNT], and fill them in again after you have the result. If a text cannot be made anonymous, it may be better not to use the tool for it.
Our free page 'How to prompt better' has a copyable template for the four questions: goal, background, limits and done when. Open How to prompt better
