A 30-day high is the highest price a coin reached in the last 30 days. It is a reference point that is recent enough to matter.
A day is too short to say much, and an all-time high can be so far back that it no longer says anything about today. A month sits in between.
It rises when the price sets a new high. It falls when the old high drops out of the 30-day window and the next highest price takes over.
To measure how far a coin has fallen from its recent peak. A fall of 30 percent from the 30-day high is a clear, comparable measure.
It is not a prediction or a signal. It is a fact about the recent past, put to use as a yardstick.
